Steel City Allstars

Each starting our musical careers in various bands around Wollongong, singer Val Shoukry (ex Lost in Line, Val plus 1, Last) noticed an apparent lack of ska music in the area and proceeded to hunt down other ska lovers particularly those with a strong musical background. He had a few in mind and picked up Brendan Cairns (ex Self Titled), Tyson Peters (ex Hornography), Ray Piatek (ex Out of Focus, Broken Collection), Mush (ex Out of Focus) and Faulkner (ex Self Titled, Last). After a few months of practice, we felt there was something missing in the horn department. We found Dave Arnold (ex Big Brass Bands) and James "Barry" Wallace (ex Big Brass Bands) and the line up and our desired sound was now found. After many shows played in and around the Wollongong and Sydney areas, we decided to record 5 of our songs for our debut EP - Wish You Were Her (available now). A couple of these tracks can be heard here. This EP was launched recently at our local Summer Skafest alongside names such as Chris Duke and the Royals (Syd), The Resignators (Melb), Steppin' Razor, The Decline (WA), Cohen Heart and The Hightides (Melb). We have also shared the stage with international acts including Dan Potthast (USA - ex MU330) and One Night Band (Can) with a few more international supports lined up. We hope you like our music! .
