LUKA BLOOM Second Wind Tour

A message from Luka Bloom to announce his 2027 AUSTRALIAN TOUR kicking off in Hobart on February 24…..

“Greetings Australia, from Ireland.

So, here’s the thing………. My last tour in 2024 was my 15th, and probably my favourite tour of Australia. It was the longest; I think 28 concerts.

I carried a wee secret during that whole journey. About 3 weeks before the tour began in February 2024, I was diagnosed with a major heart issue, requiring full-on open heart surgery. I asked the doctor how long did I have before I needed to take this REALLY seriously. (Australia was in my mind). Surgery was needed within a year, preferably less than that.

So, off I went, singing my way around your beautiful country, knowing that I was going home to ‘interesting’ times…… The surgery happened in November ’24. It took about 6-8 months to begin to sing again. During that time I wondered would I ever see Australia again, ever sing there again.

In preparation for the surgery, I decided that being positive was important.

So, while my energy was degrading, I wrote and recorded 15 songs and instrumentals. It was important in advance, to celebrate the surgeons, doctors and nurses, BEFORE they did their job.

So, in May 2025, on my 70th birthday, I released my 25th album, called A Second Wind. In July 2025, I returned to the Mater hospital in Dublin and performed the album for the doctors, nurses of that great place, who took such great care of me.

And now I am preparing for my 16th tour of Australia in Feb-April 2027.

It is called The Second Wind Tour, because that is what I have been given.

In recent weeks I have been recording yet again.

But for now, what matters is the return to this country I have loved so much since the Enmore in Sydney in 1992.

I will be servicing The Acoustic Motorbike soon, oiling the chain, and preparing for a good spin, with my friends Marc and Hanne.

See you soon.”

Review from Bruce Elder:

“Three seconds in and you know instantly this is a Luka Bloom gig. There is something intangibly familiar, call it an accent or an attitude, His guitar playing is rich, the production bringing out the velvet tone of his acoustic guitar, his voice mellow, in perfect tandem with his playing.”
